2016年に亡くなってしまったが、難解な歌詞を歌うことで知られるダミ声じいさん、カナダ出身の詩人にして小説家、シンガーソングライターの「レナード・コーエン／Leonard Cohen」の歌に、「フェイマス・ブルー・レインコート～もう一人の自分に宛てた手紙／Famous Blue Raincoat」という歌がある。今宵は、ここから始めます。
歌うのは、ダミ声ではなく、「ジェニファー・ウォーンズ／Jennifer Warnes」。1947年、アメリカ、ワシントン州シアトル出身で、南カルフォルニア育ちの歌手。大ヒットした映画「愛と青春の旅立ち／原題：An Officer and a Gentleman」（1982）の主題歌であり、アカデミー歌曲賞を受賞した、「ジョー・コッカー／Joe Cocker」とのデュエットである「愛と青春の旅立ち／原題：Up Where We Belong」を知っている方も多いのでは ・・・。
彼女の代表作、「ソング・オブ・バーナデット 〜レナード・コーエンを歌う／原タイトル；Famous Blue Raincoat: The Songs of Leonard Cohen」（1987）からです。

ややこしい雨の歌をふたつ続けたあとは、これ以上わかりやすい歌はないくらいわかりやすい歌。映画「シェルブールの雨傘／Les Parapluies de Cherbourg／The Umbrellas of Cherbourg」の挿入曲で「ミシェル・ルグラン／Michel Legrand」の名曲、「I Will Wait For You」。カラフルな雨傘の乱舞するシーンが忘れられない。英詩は、「ノーマン・ギンベル／Norman Gimbel」。訳は不要でしょう。
